Real work · Real restaurants

Six menus we redesigned
for real restaurants.

These are not demos. Each menu was built from a real restaurant's live menu — same dishes, same prices. Below is what changed.

01

Catch 109

Morehead City, NC  ·  Waterfront seafood restaurant

BeforeOriginal menu
Catch 109 original menu — dense, text-heavy nautical layout

Creative direction

The original menu was a dense PDF of type with no visual hierarchy and no coastal atmosphere. We replaced it with a clean editorial layout: generous whitespace, a single refined typeface, and a structure that guides the eye from starters to mains without fighting for attention.

02

Sally's on Broadway

Springville, IA  ·  Family diner

BeforeOriginal menu
Sally's on Broadway original menu — busy multi-panel print layout with boxed sections
AfterMenuist redesign

Creative direction

A multi-panel print layout with competing boxes, small type, and visual clutter. We distilled it into a single-column hierarchy: clear section headers, breathing room between items, and the warmth of a neighbourhood spot you actually want to return to.

03

The Border Mexican Restaurant

Cedartown, GA  ·  Mexican restaurant

BeforeOriginal menu
The Border original menu — photo-heavy template with competing colors and price blocks
AfterMenuist redesign

Creative direction

An off-the-shelf template with clashing colors, overpowering photos, and price blocks that compete with dish names. We replaced the visual noise with an earthy, composed palette, letting the food speak. The result feels like a real cantina rather than a fast-food franchise.

04

Totopos Mexican Restaurant

Dallas, GA  ·  Mexican restaurant

BeforeOriginal menu
Totopos original menu — colorful generic template with many photos and labels
AfterMenuist redesign

Creative direction

The original leaned on stock photography and generic label typography. We built a bold, warm cantina identity from the ground up: confident display type, an ochre-and-terracotta palette, and a layout that puts the cuisine front and centre rather than the template.

05

The Victor Cafe

Philadelphia, PA  ·  Italian opera café — est. 1918

BeforeOriginal menu
Victor Cafe original menu — dense listing-style menu with no editorial presence
AfterMenuist redesign
Open full PDF →

Creative direction

Victor Cafe is a Philadelphia institution where opera singers perform tableside. The original menu was a flat listing with no presence to match the venue's legend. We gave it the heritage broadside treatment: operatic hierarchy, warm ivory tones, and typographic details that feel as old and serious as the dining room.

06

Butterjoint

Pittsburgh, PA  ·  Craft bar & kitchen

BeforeOriginal menu
Butterjoint original menu — functional text-only bar menu with no visual identity
AfterMenuist redesign
Open full PDF →

Creative direction

A working bar menu that did the job but nothing more. We applied editorial restraint: strong weight contrast between section headers and items, deliberate spacing that makes the menu feel curated rather than listed, and a tone that fits the serious craft-beer culture of the place.
